Making Batteries from Salak

There might be interested to try. This experiment was made by Sutikno, teachers SMPN 2 Wanadadi Central Java and presented at the Competition of Science Teachers (LKIG) 2008 Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI). Sutikno said the battery voltage bark can produce 0.56 volts.

Material:
Salak fruit, water, zinc as the negative pole, and copper as the positive pole.

How it works:
Fruits blended with 200 grams of water by comparison: 200 ml, then poured into half a glass of mineral water. Zinc and copper measuring 5 cm each of which has been associated with conductive wires and then inserted into a glass. Measure the voltage with a multimeter. Create more bark juice up to three glasses for 1.5-volt and six glasses for 3 volts. Glasses of juice containing the diserikan barked until the voltage accumulative.

The experimental results Sutikno:
When measured with a digital multimeter, multimeter shows the resulting voltage 0.56 volts even when tested again by Sutikno, had reached the figure of 0.6 volts. Sutikno, said voltage generated by this bark juice to turn the calculator voltage 3 volt or 1.5 volt digital clock. In his presentation, the jury praised the findings and provide input for Sutikno Sutikno sharpen his research as by measuring levels of acidity and electrons to find out what factors are most influential.

HOW TO MAKE A SOLAR CELLS



Solar panels are devices that capture sunlight and then to turn it into electric energy, before I've written about solar cell technology, entitled "The potential use of solar cell in Indonesia." And then in my post below, we can try to make simple solar panels. We can try to make solar cells with preparing for the former CD box made of clear plastic, steel & copper plate which is useful as a conductor, copper wire and silicon glue






The first step is to make a plate of cuprous oxide (a rusty iron plate) shaped box, and then clean up one of the corners with sandpaper to be soldered with copper wires, plates tersebutakan function as a negative side.  

Then we make a positive plate by forming a U piece of copper sheet, slightly larger than the cuprous oxide plate, with the inside pieces of U slightly smaller than the cuprous oxide plate. After that solder copper wire in one side of the U plate. Glue the U-shaped plate on the front clear plastic CD with a lot of silicon glue to prevent leakage. Make sure that the solder connection is completely covered with glue, or out of glue - an amorphous, as drawn.  


 

The figure shows the back side of the solar cell (the side not facing the sun). And the picture below shows the solar cell front side (side that will face the sun), note that silicon glue is not fully cover the U-shaped copper plate, because the later part of the copper plate should be in contact with salt water.  





The next step is to put a plate above the plate U-shaped box, but before the glue back plate U to form a thick layer, the layer functions for insulators and for making room space for salt water. Once again, not all the copper is closed, so there will be a part of the copper in contact with salt water. Glue the plate box kelapisan the glue layer. You have to press hard enough to ensure that no gap, but not so hard that the two plates touch each other.  






The figure shows the back side of solar cell (in the side not facing the sun). And the picture below shows the solar cell front side (side that will face the sun), note that we will be adding extra glue to form a channel at the top to let the salt water to be added.  







Next, use a large eyedropper to add water salty. The contents of the cell almost to the top of the copper plate, so that nearly spilled keluar.Kemudian close the channel with glue, and allow the glue to dry. 










In the picture above we can see the solar panels work in the sun, giving about 36 microamperes current. We can also see additional glue around the edge of the plate, and fill the top channel
